We know "all politics are local". This is also true about small business marketing. There is the street fight to get to the 1st pages of local searches, especially among the marketing agency and small business marketing practitioners.

Why spend resources ( time & money ) to promote local business online? 

Following statistics should speak out loud:
  • 96% of PC owners conduct local searches 
  • 46% of all Google searches are local 
  • 64% of local customers use search engines and directories as their main way to find local business 
  • 50% of local mobile searchers look for business information (like a company’s address or phone number) 
  • A whopping 78% of local mobile searches result in an offline purchase 
  • According to Net Market Share the global marketing share percentage, in terms of the use of Search Engines heavily favored Google throughout 2017 - averaging a net share of 74.54%. This again reinforces the fact that Google is the market leader, however, it also highlights that the "Others" such as Yahoo, Bing and Baidu etc still hold a large audience and it would be silly to simply ignore them (averaging between 5-10% market share).

What smart advertisers spend their dollars?

Being on the 1st page (desktop ads, mobile ads, SEO ...etc.) of Google will generate Branding, Conversion, Traction and even customer accusations. This is proven since;
  • Google  expected to make $73.8 billion dollars in net digital ad sales in 2017
  • Amazon is by far the biggest spender on Google Adwords with ad spending totaling 157.7 million US dollars.
